Seminar on Unani and Ayurvedic Systems of Medicine Held at Hamdard University Bangladesh

A seminar was organized by the Promotion Committee of the Unani and Ayurvedic System of Medicine of Hamdard General Hospital, in collaboration with the Department of Pharmacy and the Department of Islamic Studies at Hamdard University Bangladesh. The event took place on October 14, 2025, in the university boardroom.

The session was presided over by Dr. Ashfaqul Rahman Mamun, Director of Hamdard General Hospital, while Brigadier General (Retd.) Mahbub Anwar, SUP, PSC, Honorable Director of Hamdard Foundation Bangladesh, attended as the Chief Guest and delivered the keynote address.

In his speech, the Chief Guest highlighted the contributions of Hamdard Bangladesh in advancing education and treatment methods in Unani and Ayurvedic medicine, as well as in producing world-class herbal medicines. He also emphasized the visionary leadership and contributions of Dr. Hakim Mohammad Yousuf Harun Bhuiyan, Managing Director of Hamdard Bangladesh. Furthermore, he acknowledged the significant role of Professor Kamrun Nahar Polin, Advisor of Hamdard University Bangladesh and Senior Director (Planning, Development, Marketing & Sales) at Hamdard Bangladesh.

During the discussion, Dr. Md. Khairul Alam spoke about Hamdard’s role in the development of Unani and Ayurvedic medicine in Bangladesh.
Dr. Md. Babul Akhter, Head of the Department of Ayurvedic Medicine, discussed the role of Ayurvedic medicine in healthcare and disease prevention, while Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam, Head of the Department of Unani Medicine, emphasized the importance of Unani medicine in public health.

Consultants of Hamdard General Hospital, Dr. Sadul Haque and Dr. Sajjad Hossain, presented case studies of patients who showed significant improvement through Hamdard medicines. The Head of the Marketing Department of the hospital also showcased various hospital services and facilities.

The event was hosted and the welcome speech delivered by Dr. Md. Monir Ahmed, Assistant Professor, Department of Ayurvedic Medicine. During the knowledge-sharing session, two students from the Department of Islamic Studies and two from the Department of Pharmacy shared their experiences and expressed their gratitude for gaining valuable insights from the seminar.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Ashfaqul Rahman Mamun, Director of Hamdard General Hospital.
